Lanai Vacations & Lanai Vacation Packages

Most people plan to relax while they are on vacation, and if you've chosen the destination of Lanai, Hawaii, you are certain to see your plans come to fruition. Lanai seems to be a well-kept secret among connoisseurs of travel, who cherish its small town feel and atmosphere that is quite conducive to relaxation. But, don't let this ambience fool you! While Lanai vacations are relaxing, they are also intriguing and exciting with something for visitors of all ages.

There are numerous Lanai vacation packages from which to choose. Each provides airfare, resort accommodations and a rental car. Many also offer a selection of tours, island adventures and activities.

Of course, when in Lanai, activities centering on the beach are hugely popular. Hulopo'e Beach is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. It's a good-sized beach, and usually populated just enough to make you feel at ease. You can work on your tan while watching for dolphins, which frequently put in an appearance in Manele Bay, the area of water around Hulopo'e Beach.

You can also enjoy swimming, surfing, and snorkeling. Just a leisurely walk along the beach is pleasant and memorable for all ages, especially when you take the time to gather shells for souvenirs and discover all sorts of fascinating sea life frolicking merrily in the tide pools you will pass by on your stroll. Another fun thing to do on the beach is spend the night there. Campsites are available for rent directly on the beach, and there are others located in a lovely little park that is just behind the sands of Hulopo'e.

A great place to stay in Lanai is the Four Seasons Manele Bay Resort. This resort is a popular lodging option for Lanai tourists. It offers the amenities most travelers seek in a place to call home while on the island, and is well equipped for families with children, offering special menus, toiletries, and equipment just for the younger set.

If hiking is your idea of a great Lanai activity, you would do well to check out the twice weekly hiking tours offered by the resort. And, if you are not an experienced hiker, this would be a good opportunity to learn the ropes of this hobby under the tutelage of a knowledgeable tour guide. The resort also boasts three tennis courts, a fitness center, and a nice sized pool with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean. You can also take a guided hike to Sweetheart Rock, an area landmark, or take a walk to Shipwreck Beach to admire a real shipwreck.

Golf is a favorite Lanai activity, and a course called The Challenge is aptly named. This beautiful location was actually designed by golfer Jack Nicklaus, and is a wonderful place to spend a few hours improving your golf game and enjoying the views of the Pacific.

There are many other Lanai activities for you to choose from, some located within walking distance of your hotel or campsite. There are art galleries, walking tour gardens featuring local flowers and fruit, great shopping, and a rather mysterious and inviting spot called the Garden of the Gods. This is a collection of all shapes and sizes of rocks which create an interesting and artistic scene that is fun to explore.
