![]() Molokai Vacations & Molokai Vacation PackagesStepping onto Molokai Island, Hawaii, you may be forgiven for thinking you have stepped 50 years back into the past. This is one of Hawaii's best kept secrets, and the most Hawaiian of all the Hawaiian Islands. Molokai vacations are very popular with families who enjoy the outdoors, nature lovers and any who like exhilarating hiking and fun activities and adventures. Molokai is nicknamed "The Friendly Isle". Not to say that any of the other Hawaiian Island are unfriendly, it is just that this particular island is a refuge from the glitz and bustle of Maui and Oahu, and there are no burger wars. On this island you can still find uninhabited beaches you can enjoy alone and people who stop you in the streets to greet you with a friendly "Aloha". There are quite a few Molokai vacation packages from which to choose. All will provide you with air fare, accommodations and a car rental. Many will also offer a choice of tours, island adventures and activities.
There are no traffic lights, high rises (the tallest buildings are no taller than a palm tree), and giant shopping malls - just stunning natural beauty and warm people. The weather is temperate all year round, averaging 75 degrees give or take 6 or 7 degrees, and in winter you are a bit more likely to experience rain. The winter months are from December to March and temperatures rarely drop below the low 60's. The largest town on the Island is Kaunakakai, and this is where you do your shopping in small friendly businesses. Essentially, life doesn't get much better, more slow or relaxed. When you come to Molokai, you can do absolutely nothing if you so choose. But if you want to partake in some traditional or vacationing activities, there are a few things to indulge yourself in. Obviously if you are spending time in the tropical sun, with nothing more to do than enjoy the beaches, eat and sleep, you may want to get involved in water sports if you are the active type. There are fishing and diving facilities on the island and you are able to participate in ocean kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling, whale watching and plenty of other tours. Fishing, diving and snorkeling gear may be rented or purchased as well as surf boards.
You could arrange a visit to a working Macadamia Nut farm, learn everything you want to know about these nuts, as well as sample a few. There is no better place than Molokai to learn about Hawaiian culture and the concept of living in the spirit of "Aloha". You will also find car rentals, hiking, biking, and both cultural and eco tours. Being an Island, fishing is a big deal on Molokai and now is your chance to find out how to get the big boys to bite. How about landing a trophy sized Marlin or Ulua? You could send it to the local taxidermist and mounted it on the wall of the bar in your new Molokai home (I'm sure your wife will be delighted with the new item of decor). Have you ever wanted to learn how to ride a mule? I can't say it has been an all encompassing ambition of mine, but if I were on vacation in Molokai I'd certainly go for it. You ride these sure-footed guys down the world's highest sea cliffs and, though not for the faint hearted, the experience will provide you with special memories of your Molokai vacation to take back home. |
