What can I say about Oahu? Just about everything! This is the island where the nightlife is happening. Everywhere you look there is a big luxury hotel, so if you want a tourist vacation, here it is. Just remember to bring the sunscreen. Some years ago, when visiting Oahu, I stayed at the Outrigger Reef hotel which is right on the beach. My favorite drink was a Blue Hawaiian 'cause you know they made them big and they used fresh pineapple juice. It only took one for me 'cause I'm a real lightweight.

I rented a car and I tried to get to specific destinations, but I kept getting lost. I had fun getting lost though. I ended up in pineapple fields and I remember being struck by how rich and red the dirt was. Eventually I ended up on North Shore, home to huge winter waves and big wave surfers.
The North Shore is mostly locals and surfers, not many other people. I did eventually make it to the marine park. There is plenty to see in Honolulu and Waikiki. A big crowd pleaser is the International Market Place. That is where I bought all my souvenirs to take home to the family.
If I were to go back to Honolulu there are some things that I would like to go back and see. I would like to see the statue of King Kamehameha. I would also like to see the Iolani Palace. Iolani means Royal Hawk. This is the only Palace inside the U.S. and it has a very interesting history.
Honolulu has it's own China Town. The food is great here. Also Pearl Harbor is a good place to say you have visited, especially if you are in any of the armed forces. If you really need to have a visit to a Mall there is the 4th Street Mall to visit.
Waikiki Beach is a very fun place, but in the summer it is crowded. If you get a chance you really should see the Bishop museum. If you have children with you the Waikiki Aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo are great places to go. Also there is every kind of water sport you can think of. If you want to try your hand at learning to surf with your kids then Kalama beach is good. The waters are calm and the waves are just perfect for beginners.
There is every other kind of sport that you could possibly want. Tennis, golf, hang-gliding, parasailing, hiking, biking, fishing and even bird watching are all some of the sports you can get into on Oahu. Let's not forget the nightlife, it is great! So get out there and have a good time!
